Welcome to The Cream City! I’m Lory. I’ve had a passion for home design since a preteen watching Trading Spaces (which just got renewed for another season! Although I’ve never seen the reboot). In the Spring of 2017 my husband, Kegan, and I purchased a 110+ year old home in Milwaukee. After years of DIY projects in apartments and helping my parents renovate my childhood home, I’m excited to finally have my own house to test out my ideas.
Now, almost 2 years into home-ownership, I have been inspired to chronicle our journey of home renovations, DIY projects, and creating pretty things. I will be sharing our challenges, mistakes, endeavors, and accomplishments in making our home, our own.
We have already undertaken some projects and are starting new ones more often than Kegan would probably like.
I like to think my style is inspired by clean lines with an eclectic twist although you shouldn’t hold me to that. I believe just about anything can work in the right space.
We, like a lot of millennials, love to travel. Seeing old buildings and design so different from what we’re used to has motivated us to be open-minded with our design choices. We also have a dog-ter, Colbie. She’s a 55-lb greyhound/german shepherd mix who refuses to sleep or nap on anything but the bed or couch. Having a large dog (and children at some point down the line) also plays a role in our design, décor and renovation choices.
I couldn’t be more excited to start sharing our projects. I hope you’ll come back (often) to check our progress and share your ideas too.
